In this “salve for ears that ache for flavours new” (Irish Music Magazine), Eoghan Neff’s “jaw-dropping extreme fiddling” (Folk World) and “astounding mastery of live looping” (Folk Radio UK) is spectacularly interwoven with Ray Fean’s “fiery drumming” (Hot Press) creating “astonishing, black magic music [of] unimagined sounds” (The Longford Leader.)

More about the duo

“Tracing shadows where few fiddlers deign venture” (Irish Times), Eoghan Neff creates “astonishing … black magic music … eliciting unimagined sounds” (The Longford Leader). His pioneering avant-trad performances offer an “audio goldmine” (Irish Music Magazine) that “could put a Michelin star chef to shame with its complex flavours” (Folk World). “Cinematic in scope” (Irish Times), his fiddle playing and compositions is heard across various feature films by Oscar-winning and Cannes-winning directors (The Eagle, Hrútar), television series soundtracks and theme music (RTÉ, BBC, RTVE), independent screen productions from documentaries to animation (Canal+, RTS, RTBF), live interactive installations from contemporary dance to archival silent films (IFI), and 20+ albums from experimental fusion to free improvisation. His “extreme fiddling” (Folk World) combines prepared objects and motorised curios with an “astounding mastery of live looping” (Folk Radio UK). His onstage performances worldwide, both fronting his own shows and as featured soloist with Riverdance, Atli Örvarsson, and myriad other premier productions, have garnered him a reputation with the international press as “a true Irish devil violinist” (Sächsische Zeitung) who “if he has sold his soul to the devil to play as he does, he has definitely got the better part of the deal!” (Fatea Magazine).

Ray Fean has long been at the forefront of Irish drumming with a career spanning 27 world tours and 14 million album sales. Raised in the household that spawned seminal Celt-Rock group, Horslips, his foundation in rock was enriched by a diverse range of ethnic music styles. He started out with acclaimed Limerick band, Tuesday Blue, signed to U2’s Mother Records / EMI Manhattan and produced by Dave Richards (Queen, David Bowie, Iggy Pop). He has since recorded and performed to an audience of millions across TV and live stages with Riverdance, Celtic Woman, The Waterboys, Clannad, Paul Brady, Sinead O’Connor, Joe Elliot (Def Leppard), Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Neil & Tim Finn (Crowded House), Sharon Shannon, Davy Spillane, Kirsty McColl, Steve Earle, Eddie Reader, David Gray, Gabrielle, Ronnie Drew,  and Bellefire. An enduring professional partnership with one of Ireland’s foremost musicians, Donal Lunny, yielded the Common Ground album (EMI Premier) featuring Bono & Adam Clayton, Maire Brennan, and Christy Moore; the Heritage Des Celtes project in conjunction with Breton guitarist Dan Ar Braz that spawned platinum selling albums; and global tours as part of Coolfin, which also formed the basis of a sixteen-week music series, Sult – Spirit of the Music, showcasing a plethora of international featured artists for Irish national television RTÉ and the BBC.
